First 20 Pick NFL Mock Draft (with trades!)
April 24, 2023
With the 1st pick, I have the Carolina Panthers taking the quarterback from Alabama, Bryce Young, who is the favorite to go 1st overall. With the 2nd pick, I have the Houston Texans taking the best quarterback available and selecting the quarterback from Ohio State, CJ Stroud. With the 3rd pick, I have the Arizona Cardinals taking the edge rusher from Alabama, Will Anderson. The Cardinals need a pass rush, and Anderson excels in that aspect. In the 4th spot, I have the Indianapolis Colts taking the quarterback from Florida, Anthony Richardson. Richardson who, while raw, has unworldly physical gifts.
With the 5th pick, I have the Seattle Seahawks trading down with the Philadelphia Eagles, who take the cornerback from Oregon, Christian Gonzalez. Darius Slay is 32, and Gonzalez prepares them for life after him. With the 6th pick, I have the Detroit Lions taking the defensive tackle from Georgia, Jalen Carter. While Carter has character concerns, he’d fill a need for the Lions in a big way.
With the 7th pick, I have the Raiders taking the quarterback from Kentucky, Will Levis, to sit and learn for a year or two behind Jimmy Garoppolo. With the 8th pick, I have the Atlanta Falcons taking the edge rusher from Texas Tech: Tyree Wilson, because they lack a legit edge rusher. With the 9th pick, I have the Chicago Bears taking the tackle from Ohio State, Paris Johnson Jr, to give Justin Fields a blindside protector.
With the 10th pick, I have the Seahawks taking the edge rusher from Iowa, Lukas Van Ness, after trading down with Philadelphia. The Seahawks’ front seven was their biggest weakness, which makes Van Ness the logical pick. With the 11th pick, I have the Tennessee Titans taking the offensive lineman from Northwestern, Peter Skoronski. They need to address the offensive line, and Skoronski would make an immediate impact.
With the 12th pick, I have the Houston Texans taking the wide receiver from Ohio State, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, to reunite him with Stroud. With the 13th pick, I have the New York Jets trading down with the Washington Commanders, who select the cornerback from Illinois, Devon Witherspoon, to improve their secondary. With the 14th pick, I have the New England Patriots taking the offensive tackle from Georgia, Broderick Jones, to give Mac Jones more protection. With the 15th pick, I have the Green Bay Packers taking the edge rusher from Clemson, Myles Murphy, to improve a defense that dissapointed. With the 16th pick, I have the Jets taking the best player available, safety from Alabama, Brian Branch, after trading down with Washington to build around their likely future quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
With the 17th pick, I have the Pittsburgh Steelers taking the cornerback from Penn State, Joey Porter Jr, to be their true number 1 cornerback. With the 18th pick, I have the Detroit Lions taking the tight end from Notre Dame, Michael Mayer, to replace TJ Hockenson. With the 19th pick, I have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking the edge rusher from Georgia, Nolan Smith, who ran a 4.39 40. With the 20th pick, I have the Seattle Seahawks taking the wide receiver from USC, Jordan Addison, to form a scary trio alongside DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
