The newspaper has used traditional and digital art, photography, and newspaper collages. Just like the last issue, we’ve branched out one last time for this year. Crocheting, also known as Shepherd’s Knitting. After reaching out to Boise High’s Crochet Club and requesting some projects they’ve made, they responded quite eagerly to the offer when reached out to.
Zoe Robinson is currently a junior, and is one of the co-presidents of the Crochet Club. Zoe has always liked getting to share her passion with other students, and stated that “I love the way the Crochet Club pushes each other to take on harder projects.” Speaking of members, surprisingly enough, our very own SRO here at Boise High is part of our Crochet Club. He is stated, by the members of this club, to be an important part of their Club. The club members greatly value his being in the club.
Several projects were presented to us, most of which the club had made throughout this year. All the submissions were all good options for the cover art. In the end, the piece that was selected is composed of three granny squares of blue, white, and green, as well as a phone holder in a darker shade of green that blended well with the lighter colors the granny squares were composed of. Granny squares are often the first thing new crochers make, they can be added together to make a plethora of projects, from sweaters to blankets and much more.
When asked about the granny squares, Zoe seemed quite proud about the work they had all made. She mentioned that the phone holder was something that she made on the fly, and never found a good use for, so she decided to bring it just in case it was chosen to be used in the photo for the cover.
The submissions from the Crochet club were all beautifully crafted, each of them showing how diverse and creative you can get when you set your mind to something artistic. We thank you all for your submissions and will see all of you that aren’t Seniors next year.
