A drastic shift in modern day politics has occurred. The world changed on January 20th, 2025 as our new leader, Donald J. Trump was inaugurated after he was elected as president. The inaugural celebration, was highlighted by those in attendance, including Jake and Logan Paul, Connor Mcgregor, Joe Rogan, and Dana White. The best seats during the event, the executive seats near the President, were filled by tech billionaires such as Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg, rather than the usual cabinet appointee.
Key points from President Donald J. Trump’s Speech at the Inauguration included his pledge for a new American Golden Age for the country, “From this day forward, our country will flourish,” President Trump stated. With this speech the country got a better idea of what Trump is focusing on in his second term. He stated that he would quickly sign executive orders related to energy, tariffs and deportation, which he has done. Trump said in his address, “My top priority will be to create a nation that is proud, prosperous, and free.” Some people found his speech to be contradicting with his top priorities being to create a prosperous country for all while deporting and increasing tariffs which is dividing our country not uniting and making it free for all creating a culture of hate instead of uniting the country.
Another interesting part of the event – whole thing was moved indoors due to the extreme cold weather that Washington D.C. was experiencing. It was the first time in 40 years that the presidential inauguration was indoors, with the last time being in 1985 for then President Ronald Regan. This change, however, created an immactualte display inside of the U.S. capitol building with gorgeous art behind our President. The acoustics of the rotunda added to the affect, magnifying Trump’s speaking and the music of the Marine Band and the Univeristy of Nebraska’s choir – creating an elevated feeling for the occasion.
The celebration continued with the performances by Carrie Underwood and Christopher Macchio – who performed an Opera styled version of “Oh, America.” Later in the evening The Village People performed at the Inaugural Ball singing “YMCA.” President Trump has used the song YMCA for his rallies at Mar Largo and around the country during his Make America Great Campaign. And, he used this anthem as the last dance of the night.
The inaguration went as rehearsed and was a fun celebration for our new 47th president Donald J. Trump.
I really enjoyed the Inauguration and how everything went. It was a joyous event for our country and was a proud celebration of tradition and a peaceful transition of power within our government. Crowds of people across Washington D.C. lined up for the occasion, everything went smoothly and it gave an excellent impression of Donald J. Trump’s 2nd term and what all we have to look forward to.
