As spring arrives more people are spending time outside. There are all kinds of unofficial sports you can play.. They are fun and competitive, but don’t require the same seriousness of other sports. As the weather warms up for spring, it can be a lot of fun to get outdoors and try some new sports like ultimate frisbee, spikeball, pickleball, and outdoor volleyball. These can be light and fun or serious and competitive depending on the people who you play with, making them the perfect activities for when the weather gets nice.
Many people love to play volleyball outdoors, whether they have their own net to set up, they use the sand net at Camel’s Back Park, or they just play in the grass. It’s a great way to stay active and spend some time outdoors with your friends during the spring and summer without having to know a lot about the sport. Spikeball is very similar to outdoor volleyball in the way that it can be very fun and competitive. You get four people, teams of two, and you bounce the ball off the net to your partner. You get three touches then you hit it across the net to the other team. You can buy a rookie Spikeball net for about 50 dollars for many good times and memories. The net will last a very long time and is totally worth it. Spikeball can get very competitive with certain people, and once you get good and consistent at it it’s very fun and easy to spend hours wasting your days away on it. You can fit a net in just about any car and play at any park or about anywhere you can imagine.
Ultimate frisbee, a non contact, self-refereed team sport, is in over 113 countries all over the world, and a game played by an estimated amount of 7 million people. The goal of this game is for one of your teammates to catch the disc in the opposite end zone that you are defending. This sport is a little different, because there are no refs, you call the fouls you make, which is a hard thing to do. This is a very fun sport, to play on a team, or just at the park with your friends. Pickleball, one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, is becoming very popular in Boise. Pickleball is a paddle sport that takes different aspects of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. Pickleball courts are getting painted over tennis courts and indoor pickleball courts are going in around Boise. Many people are also adding pickleball courts to their backyard, so they can play whenever. So grab a paddle and make your way to the court.
Whether you’re playing with your family, or hanging out with your friends, all of these sports are super fun to play during the warming up spring weather, or the scorching hot summer.
