One of my favorite things about Boise is how we value our very unique aesthetic. Whether we do that through our street art, shopping, surrounding neighborhoods, foothills or popular trends, it’s cool to have something that sets our town different from the rest. 

     Downtown Boise has a plethora of opportunity for window shopping. A very new addition to so many options is one I have very recently fallen in love with. Maven Boise, which is conjoined with Nanas is located Downtown in the basement of the Idanha at 928 W Main St. 

     There are a few things that made Maven/Nanas stand out. The first thing that made my initial opinion of the store so positive was the fact that it’s location was very non-conventional. It’s nestled directly under a building which gave the store a distinct omen. 

     After walking down the stairs into a comfy room I looked to my left to see someone receiving a haircut. At first I was a little confused, but I realized that’s another thing that makes this store fit into Boise’s vibe so well. Maven sells vintage handmade art and goods while also being a local barber. Nanas, which is the other half of the store that sells vintage apparel and clothing. 

     Izze Rump, who was working upon my arrival at the store, was so easy to approach. I could instantly tell she was so interested in what I had to say. After speaking with her I realized that Maven/Nanas really stood out because of its cozy environment. I wanted to shop there. “It’s a place where everyone, regardless of who they are or what kind of things they’re into, can feel welcomed and comfortable” said Izze.

    I love that Maven and Nanas have created a different kind of atmosphere that shoppers are sure to remember. That’s what made my experience shopping there so different. It was more than just a regular retail shop I could find on any other street corner. “We offer items that are really unique, it’s just the curation that we’ve compiled is people that make really outstanding work”
