November 3rd, the day that dictates the future of our next four years and furthermore. As this day approaches us the importance of knowledge about the election does as well. The two candidates running are Joe Biden (D.) and Donald Trump (R.). With Vice Presidents Kamala Harris (D.) running alongside Biden and Mike Pence (R.) running alongside Trump.

The Presidential Debate that took place on September 29th, 2020 was said to be the most disastrous debates the United States has ever seen. Over 1 million Americans have received an Absentee vote ballot in the mail currently after watching this debate. Issues discussed in this debate included Covid-19, Reopening schools, and environmental issues,

The 2020 election is expected to have the biggest voting turnout ever recorded. Previously 18-25 year olds have been more absent while voting, meanwhile in America’s upcoming election, this group is expected to have the highest voting turnout. To vote you must be 18, a citizen, have proof of residence(30 days) and must register to vote before the deadlines. Most states voting registration ended October 20th and weeks before that. Covid 19 taking over our country has caused the need for mail in ballots; these must be requested by October 23rd in Idaho and sent in before the third of November. You also may vote early. Early voting takes place from October 19th to October 30th.

If you would like to vote on election day polls are open from 7:00am to 8:00 pm(this is not always the case you must check your local polling booth near you.) You must have some form of ID to vote that shows proof of residence in Idaho, this could be a drivers license, passport, School ID, Tribal ID, or a license to carry concealed weapons. Vote.org/state/idaho has all needed information for voting, absentee ballots, requirements and polling places near you.

As well as the Presidential Election when you vote you are also voting for a circuit court judge, Justice of the Supreme Court, Senators, House Representatives, and many more. It is important to be educated on not only the candidates of the presidential election but also every other spot being filled on election day. Idaho has 4 votes in the electoral college, however every vote counts. Voting is something that has been looked upon in previous elections, however officials are stating that this will be the most prominent election the United States of America has ever had.
