Homecoming is so fun! Said no one ever. There’s nothing but people standing around, awkwardly dancing or jumping up and down, and lame music. Getting all dressed up is exciting and it’s nice to get together with your friends. But personally, as soon as I get to the dance, all I want to do is leave. I think I spent more time in the line getting into the dance than I did in the physical dance. It’s hot, awkward, and just overall not fun. The music selections are complete trash. I know it’s a school event, and the music has to be “appropriate,” but at this point even Kidz Bop would go harder than some of the stuff they play.
Everyone is usually so excited for homecoming and then once it comes, it’s like meh. In all honesty, the dance is annoying. It’s literally so hard for people to walk like a normal person. Every single dance I’ve gone to, people just completely ram into each other without a single care in the world. Like just don’t run into people, it’s that simple. But no, people purposely ram into each other. Which given the context is reasonable, but there is no need for violence. Everyone gathers around in one area even though there’s usually so much space to not stand shoulder to shoulder next to your friends.
Not only are there people standing so close together, when a ‘hype’ song comes on people rush to the mosh pit. It’s so annoying when people shove past you to get to where the pit is, and then have the audacity to leave 30 seconds later. I understand having a mosh pit at a concert but homecoming? Absolutely not. Moshing to “Baby” by Justin Beiber? I would never. That gets me back to the music selection. We’re highschoolers, I think I can speak for the majority of us when I say no one cares if music has cuss words in them.
Homecoming just genuinely isn’t all that people make it out to be. People make such a big deal about it it becomes more stressful than fun. Instead of going to a lame dance, just make plans with friends and do something that you actually can enjoy.

Blatantly disrespectful to all the kind folks at student council that have painstakingly put together this dance for all of us!

This is too far. This is disrespectful, abhorrent, and downright mean to all the hard work that student council put into this dance. Not. Cool.
