With the school year starting up, so are Boise High’s fall sports. With football, soccer, swimming, volleyball, cross country, mountain biking, cheer, and dance, there is a lot to look forward to. Boise High sports are a long standing tradition at our school and are always a fun time for both students and athletes. Whether you are cheering for a game winning touchdown at a football game, supporting cross-country athletes as they cross the finish line, or watching the swim team destroy their competition there is always something thrilling and entertaining to watch or be a part of.
So far the Boise High Football team has started the season off strong with four wins in a row. These big wins have made history as the first time since 1988 Boise has gone 4-0. When interviewing Jerry Gum, a new student at Boise High and a new member of the Brave Football Team about what he is excited for in the rest of the football season, he said, ”I’m excited to learn and grow as a team, as well as friends. I think we’ll be able to win state this year, we have the skills and the discipline to do so. I’m very excited and I’m gonna give it my all.”
Although not officially recognized as a sports team at Boise High, the Boise Brave Mountain bike team has also been having a great season with some exciting races. Gerasimos Agoudemos who has been on the mountain bike team for five years and is a student leader on the team says that the best part about being a part of the mountain bike team is “the sense of community that comes with being part of …[the] team”
Sports are an amazing part of Boise High’s rich culture. However, our sports would not be possible without the coaches. When interviewing Connor Pentzer, a varsity swimmer for Boise High, he said, “the coaches are awesome and bring us together. The fun attitude each coach brings to each meet and practice is what makes our team feel like a team.” Our coaches at Boise High truly foster growth and a team community for all of our amazing athletes.
Almost every day there is an opportunity to show up and support Boise High’s teams. The rest of Boise High’s fall sports season should be a blast. Go Boise Brave!
