For this issue’s cover art, we have a group who took the photos from the photography class: Erick Baker, Alex Robinson, Lucas Prazak and Ben Scamardella.
The assignment Erick, Alex, Lucas and Ben got was to take ghost photos around downtown. The way they do this is by having a long shutter speed, this means that the light comes in for a long time and the lens stays open for a while. You can take photos like this one and make it look like someone is a ghost, as they did in this project. Or, other photos that people have taken with this technique is a person in the center and then a lot of other people walking by.
Erick and Alex say that it was the best and most challenging project they have had this year. “Some of the best photos we have taken are from this project,” Erick said. He likes photography because it’s another way to express thoughts and emotions. Alex likes it because it gives him a passion he can do when he graduates and go on with life in general. The photography class also takes photos for the sports teams.
Some of the guys in the photography class want to start a photography group. If you want to learn how to take good photos or are interested in taking photos, you can talk to one of the boys and they might have some good information.
Both Erick and Alex are involved in the sports teams at Boise High. Erick does cheerleading, football, track and he’s on the ski team. Alex does track, basketball, and sometimes football.
Alex and Erick are both going to take a gap year after high school. Erick also wants to work with videography and photography because he doesn’t want to waste money on something he might not end up enjoying. And if he can make money while doing what he likes and already knows how to do, that is great.
A tip from both of the guys is to find something you like and do it. Don’t let anything stop you no matter what other people might think about it.
