Something that makes Boise High’s culture truly unique is the amazing clubs. On September 6th, Boise High had its annual club rush event. Dozens of clubs set up shop, and students scrambled in the quad to sign up for clubs. However, with around 65 clubs participating in the event, choosing a club to be a part of was an overwhelming task. Here are a couple of cool clubs at Boise High that may have gotten lost in the shuffle.
Many of Boise High’s clubs have to do with language and foreign cultures. Chase Lawyer, Vice president of the American Sign Language club says “Our club meets regularly to learn new signs together, learn about deaf culture, and have an amazing time together ”.
The German club is another fun language club at Boise High. The president of the German club says that “every other Monday at lunch we meet to discuss our quarterly event. These quarterly events have massive parties where we have German food and celebrate German culture.”
But not all clubs at Boise High have to do with language. Haiden Johnson, a member of the Bob Ross Club says that her club is all about painting. “Bob Ross’ whole career was about making tutorials that people could follow along with, so in Bob Ross Club we watch those videos and paint along with him, ” she says. Painting is always such a blast and is always relaxing when your teacher is the great Bob Ross.
Some clubs like Cake Club simply meet over a common love of cake. Lydia Love, the president of Cake Club says “At Cake Club, not only do we eat cake, we make friends.”
Other clubs unite to play games like Magic the Gathering. “At Magic the Gathering Club we teach and play Magic the Gathering and have an amazing time. Even if you are a beginner, we are very open!” says Oliver Wroten, president of the club.
Another cool club at Boise High is the Women Innovators Club. Avery Singer, a leader of the club says “We are a support network for women in STEM and often we have speakers and volunteer activities.”
Even if you missed club rush or are having second thoughts, there is still plenty of time to join any club. Talking to any club leaders featured in this article or talking to student council members about joining can get you into a club in no time.
