When it comes to Christmas movies, there are a few that stand out and become traditions in almost every household. Some of the most popular holiday movies are the animated How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Home Alone, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and Elf. Each of these movies has its own greatness, but when it comes to the best, here’s how we think they should be ranked.
In last place, the original animated Grinch. It is a classic, and while it’s fun and festive, it’s not quite as exciting as the others. Sure, it has great music and the story of the Grinch learning the true meaning of Christmas is heartwarming, but students around Boise High voted this the least for the best Christmas movie out of the four. The animation is fun, but it feels more like something you’d watch for nostalgia rather than as a true favorite. But we still think that it’s definitely a must-watch, just not the top pick.
Home Alone comes in third place with the votes from around Boise High. We would go with this in second place but the majority always wins! The main character’s actor, Macaulay Culkin, fits this role just perfectly. This movie has a perfect blend of humor and uplifting spirits. But it’s just missing something that the two top movies have!
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is hilarious, and it’s definitely the funniest movie on this list. The craziness of Clark Griswold trying to create the perfect Christmas leads to all kinds of weird situations. But, sometimes the humor can be a bit too much, and it doesn’t feel the same as some of the other movies. It’s perfect for laughing with family, but it needs a bit of the magic you get with the other movies.
Elf is one of those movies you can’t help but love. Will Ferrell’s performance as Buddy the Elf is just perfect and his silliness throughout the film makes the movie funny, uplifting, and have tons of Christmas spirit. We have asked many students throughout Boise high, and they agree with us that Elf takes the win for the best Christmas movie.
In conclusion, the students around Boise High, along with us, agree that Elf is the best Christmas movie out there! It’s followed by National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, then Home Alone, and then finally by How The Grinch Stole Christmas! Christmas movies are one of the best ways to get into the holiday spirit, so if you haven’t yet, go watch one of these movies!
