In elementary school, what was your favorite day? Some would say a class party or maybe dress-up days. But my favorite day was Valentine’s Day. Leading up to the day of love, hearts, pink, and red, you would get the opportunity to hand out all your Valentine’s Day goodies. Whether they’re store bought or homemade with your family, you would place them in your classmates’ Valentine boxes- the best invention on this planet. Valentine’s boxes were a huge part of making Valentine’s day a great way to have some extra fun and get some sweet treats!
This was definitely a fun activity to do in elementary school, but now that we are in high school, should Valentines boxes be brought back? We think the answer is a definite yes! In elementary school most kids looked forward to this day filled with loads of fun. Why not give high school students a day like this to look forward to? To make this a bit less of a hassle, there are some modifications you could make. Each teacher could have their students sign up to bring some fun goodies to hand out to each Valentine box, with only one period in the day being dedicated to Valentine’s Day fun. Handing out a piece of candy and being able to admire the creative Valentine’s boxes could bring joy to students’ faces that is hard to find in the everyday shuffle of high school.
Valentine’s boxes would be a great way to have some extra fun on Valentine’s day, and bring some light to the special holiday. Having a fun box that you decorate with your friends would make Valentine’s day much more fun for all the students. “I loved them during Valentine’s Day in elementary school, it was fun getting the sweet treats,” said Maya Bennet, a BHS sophomore, and we couldn’t agree more. So why not bring back valentines boxes to make some highschoolers’ days!
