As everyone knows, Disney has been coming out with life changing movies ever since the very first one, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, in 1937. That movie was the start to making history with the best princess movies ever made. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t know and love Disney movies, but recently they’ve sort of had the idea of starting to make them live action, and people have many different opinions on this. While some enjoy the old movies being reimagined, others point out that live action doesn’t hold the same charm as the animations, and that these movies are made because Disney has run out of ideas.
The live actions come with a hint of nostalgia, but some people think that live action films execute emotions poorly. The biggest criticism of recent Disney live action films is that actors don’t have cartoon-like expressions. Animations have nearly no limits because they are drawings. When it’s animated, the artist can show any emotion their imagination can create.
Another criticism of Disney’s live action movies is that the animated versions were the best for children. When the animations are scrapped, but the plot is kept the same, kids have less desire to see the movie. It seems like Disney is trying to appeal to adults, but if they are using the same plot as the original, it becomes less intriguing for adults. The only reason someone would choose to watch the live action film is to see if it can live up to the feeling the animated ones used to give them when they were little, and often it doesn’t.
Many people think that instead of putting their time into making old animated movies live action, Disney should come up with completely new stories. It’s understandable that it’s difficult to come up with new movie plots, and every once in a while there are new ones, but turning old ones into live action like Snow White, The Lion King, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and many more, could be a waste of time and resources. Don’t get me wrong, they’re definitely great movies, but giving kids today new classics instead of finding actors and re-writing scripts seems like it would benefit consumers, and bring in more revenue for Disney.
Live action movies are very entertaining and intriguing, but some of them are a little bit unnecessary and not as adored by fans as Disney hoped.
