When mom and dad are being difficult, your friend is grounded, and it’s too cold to be outside- where do you go? The District Coffee House offers a hospitable, cozy, yet lively environment for anyone in need of a place to be. With a variety of drinks and snacks, comfortable furniture, and a modern, airy atmosphere, you’ll feel right at home the moment you step through the door.

The interior has a wide variety of seating options, including bigger tables good for groups, plenty of comfy couches, and regular 2-person tables. Whether you’re there for a meeting, a date, or some gool ol’ time by yourself, you can be comfy while you enjoy the art and decor.

The interior is spacious and when it’s warmer, and the patio has seating as well so you can enjoy the outdoors. Spending time at the District is guaranteed to make you feel like a city-kid and a hipster.

The District roasts their own coffee exclusively- blending unique flavors from Indonesia, Africa, and Latin America. They believe that genuine love is an important part of life and an answer to the problems of the world. This translates directly to their coffee to reach a level of quality that is hard to find elsewhere.

One specialty is their chai latte: a spiced, smooth, and sweet concoction of chai tea all blended up in a big white teacup and topped with cream. You’ll feel warm and cozy drinking this, and it’s completely affordable!

Along with this, there are several types of coffees, teas, and other drinks like smoothies and hot chocolate. You’ll also find a variety of pastries such as cookies, banana bread, croissants, and brownies.

Customers with a little extra to spend or not quite enough can participate in the District’s “Pending Coffee”. Pay for a cup of coffee that someone else can claim later- the staff keeps a tally of how many cups are available, and others who need them can have a warm drink for free. What many District-goers don’t know is that this modern business in a non profit dedicated to supporting an orphanage network called Send Hope. The District works with this program to help 12 different orphanages across India financially. What may just be a drink to you means a safe home and hot meal for children who really need it. If you want to support this project but you aren’t in the mood for a drink, visit Send Hope’s website to donate and possibly even sponsor a child in need.

You might even be lucky enough to experience some live music while visiting this coffee shop. Boise Rock School and BAMP (Boise All-ages Movement Project) provide live shows throughout March! Discover some new music and meet some local musicians in a truly unique and homey space. Pop in over the weekend to see who’s playing and stay for a song or two.

The District is a great place to get together with friends, get some alone time, or push yourself to fight off tendency for procrastination. You can work on your school assignments using free wi-fi available in the lounge- or connect with other people so you don’t feel like such a lonely hermit all the time! The District is often bustling with all sorts of people, and you may meet someone new. Located just .3 miles from Boise High, on 10th St, it’s just a quick walk to reach a great hang out spot.
