More than Music

Zoe Barkhurst, Reporter

Treefort is coming, and it’s coming quickly. Treefort is in our backyard downtown and goes on from March 25th to the 29th. So many awesome bands are coming such as: GroupLove, Japanese Breakfast, Calexico, Omar Apollo and so many more.

If you are 12 or younger and accompanied by an adult you can get in for free. The tickets are somewhat pricey but definitely worth it. As well as music, there is poetry, art and all kinds of other cool things to experience. While talking to Parker Winn, he believes “Treefort is one of the best music festivals and it’s so awesome that it’s so close to us.”

A lot of the bands that come to Treefort are smaller and less known but are extremely talented. Treefort Music Festival features very different genres and is a wonderful place for anyone. Indie music is very prominent at Treefort, there are over 100 bands scheduled and so many interesting things to do for all ages.

Skatefort at Rhodes skatepark, on March 28th, mixes skating and music. The Treefort community partnered with the Boise Skateboard Association to work to raise awareness for skating and the local skateparks. This also includes roller skating. Anyone is welcome and the more the merrier.

As well as Skatefort, the festival has a dance off, public speakers and even Petfort. Petfort is before the festival starts, but it is sponsored and held by Treefort. It is on March 21st at Ann Morrison park and is a place to show off your dogs. By attending you have the opportunity to win Treefort tickets.

Treefort encourages those attending to walk or bike around and to restrain from driving. There is also a public bus available called the Treeline. They encourage sustainability and responsibility during the festival.

If you are looking for a more inexpensive way to attendTreefort and you are 18 you can volunteer and get tickets for 35 dollars. The general admission tickets are anywhere from 100-300 depending on the days you go and what you plan on doing at Treefort.

Locally held by Boise city and partnered with project filter, Treefort wants to keep the festival family friendly and smoke free. Whoever you are, no matter what music you listen to, Treefort is for everyone and such a  cool experience that we have!
