Skiing and Snowboarding are a part of Boise’s culture to the bone. Over the years, there have been more and more ski shops, busing up to Bogus, and affordable deals to ski resorts on the rise. This provides an opportunity for the Boise community to ski and snowboard with more convenience This can lead to more people enjoying the snow, which can turn into overcrowding at many of the resorts.

Bogus may be the easiest place to get to from Boise High, but there are many other resorts that take about 1.5-2.5 hours to get to. Tamarack and Brundage are the two that come to mind. Tamarack is a resort just outside of McCall that offers luxury lodging and skiing. The mountain itself is moderately large with 6 different chairlifts and 900 acres of land. Brundage Ski Resort is in McCall and offers not only downhill skiing and a bit of terrain park, as well as backcountry skiing. This is not unique to Brundage, but it is more widely known.

There are lots of ways you can get up to these ski resorts with Boise High, as we have a Snow Club that offers different opportunities. The club planned a ski trip including transportation, a ski ticket and food all for $80, which is affordable given its value. Unfortunately, because of late snowfall this year and the rockslide on Idaho State Highway 55, the trip got canceled. However, there will be more opportunities in the future.

Skiing and Snowboarding are great ways to get in shape as well as be outdoors with your friends and family. Our community has evolved so much over the years to make skiing and snowboarding more accessible to all.
